Shri
Manguesh Temple: Shri Mahalaxmi
Temple at Bandora
Shri Mahalaxmi Temple at
Bandora is four kilometers
off Ponda, 37 kilometer
off Panaji. The Goddess
of Shakti cult is venerated
here. The Goddess Mahalakshmi
was adored here by Shilahara
rulers. Another characteristic
is that there are eighteen
idols of Vishnu in wood
in here. The statue of Mahalaxmi
made in black stone is a
marvel.
Shri
Manguesh Temple is 22 kilometers
from Panaji at Pricol. This
small temple is devoted
to Lord Shiva is elegant.
The high white tower is
beautiful.
Shri
Shantadurga Temple at Kavlem
: Shri Shantadurga Temple
at Kavlem, an impressive
idol of Goddess Durga is
worshipped here, the idol
of Shantadurga, in tranquility,
with Lord Vishnu and Lord
Shiva on each side. There
are lodgings available in
the Agrasala

kilometers off Ponda, 37

Nagesh Temple at Bandora
: Bandora is four kilometers
away from Ponda. Lord Shiva

wooden carvings with Ramayana
themes on one side and images
of Ashtadikpal and Gandharva
on the other side are a
characteristic.

Bagavathi Temple: Shri Bagavathi
Temple is situated 7 kilometers
from Penem. This is a complex
of five temples. This is some
500 years old. The entrance
is flanked by two life-sized
mammoths in black stone. The
statue of Goddess Bhagavathi
Ashtabhuja is impressive.
Sri
Chandranath at Quepem : Sri
Chandranath at Quepem is atop
the steep hill at some 350
meters height. The attractions
of the temple are the Shivlings
carved in stone which oozes
water on full moon days.
